Ham Casserole

350° - 50 minutes. Serves 6


2 c cubed, cooked ham
3 medium cooked potatoes, sliced
1 can green beans
1/4 c butter
1/4 c flour
2 c milk
1 c cubed cheese
1 can water chestnuts, sliced
1 can mushrooms
1/4 c slivered almonds
2 T butter
1-1/2 c bread crumbs


Make white sauce with butter and flour. Gradually add in milk, stirring constantly, until thick. Add cheese, cook slowly until melted. Add chestnuts and mushrooms.

Arrange sliced potatoes in 2 quart greased casserole. Cover with green beans. Pour 1/2 sauce over; add ham and pour remaining sauce.

Melt 2 T butter, add bread crumbs and almonds. Sprinkle over casserole.

Bake 35 minutes. Let stand 15 -20 minutes before serving.


DO NOT overcook potatoes!
